James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS) has the in-house expertise to identify and repair damage, excessive wear and other potential issues that can effect wind turbine blades. Turbine blades have to be perfectly aerodynamic to function effectively, but damage can cause erosion as they move through the air at speeds of up to 200mph, dramatically reducing their efficiency. Routine wind turbine blade repair is a time-consuming process which has always been highly weather dependent.

Innovative wind turbine cured blade repair - RENUVO UV

Rotos 360, now part of James Fisher Marine Services, helped to develop the Gurit Renuvo ultra violet (UV) cured blade repair method - RENUVO UV. The RENUVO UV method cures blades 25 times faster than the conventionally used Epoxy curing, cutting the curing time for a large repair from six hours to five minutes.  

The UV system is also effective in temperatures as low as 5C and as high as 30C in conditions of up to 90% humidity. This increases weather windows for repairs, significantly reducing any downtime.

This innovative and efficient method has resulted in significant time saving, reduced costs and improved safety through the use of unique suspended work platforms.

Highly trained personnel:

Operations are all undertaken by highly experienced technical teams. As part of its team specification, each blade technician must have at least four years referenced experience in blade repair.
